Getting a test for the virus (Covid-19) at home is possible, of course, if you live in England. A positive thing in this large disorganized city we managed to have.

The situation is already stressful enough ( see here how to manage stress during the coronavirus ) If you do not feel well and suspect you have the Coronavirus you can request the Covid-19 test and receive it at your home to check if you have contracted the virus . This is more than useful in this period of uncertainty and crowding in hospitals.
Who can ask for the test?
- for yourself, if you have Coronavirus symptoms now (a high temperature, a new, ongoing cough, or a loss or change in your sense of smell or taste)
- for someone you live with, if they have coronavirus symptoms
In England and Wales, you can ask for a test for a child living with you, whatever their age. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, you can only take a test for your child if they are 5 or older. If you are asking for a test for someone else and the person is 13 or older, check that they agree to ask for a test for them.
When to apply for the test?
Testing is required within the first 5 days of symptoms. Ask for the test as soon as possible.
How to ask for the test
Testing for Corona virus can be requested online through this NHS website . Select the item “request the test at home” if you want to receive the kit directly at your home, otherwise you can go to the indicated centers. You will automatically be directed to the government page that manages the distribution of Covid-19 tests at home. You will need the test to find out if you currently have the virus.
Warning remember that you will have to do it yourself , the test will include taking a swab inside the nose and in the back of the throat, using a long cotton ball.
The domestic Covid-19 test kit is free. Nobody will ask you to provide any bank or credit card details.
You will be asked for the following information:
- First name
- Date of birth
- Telephone number
- Nin
- Email address
How to test for Covid-19
You will be given an envelope with the entire kit inside to be able to perform the swab at home, the following kit also includes:
- clear instructions,
- kit to test for Covid-19
- airtight bags
- box to be assembled and delivered for the day of collection.
The instructions are well detailed and clear so you won’t have to have problems with the execution.
As for the collection, it would be better to book the collection first (always online) and only after , before the courier arrives, to perform the Coronavirus test , so that the result is accurate.
