The tigers at Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai are treated with great care, they are not sedated as in other tiger places in Thailand, and the facilities are extremely clean. Tiger Kingdom assigns professional staff with each group of visitors to ensure that everything goes smoothly and comfortably, precisely because they are not sedated it can happen that they get nervous.
Staff before you enter the cage will give you a short course on how to deal with tigers. They are ready to intervene immediately if anything should rile the tiger. But if you follow the instructions they give you, I’m sure there will be no problem. At the center they confirmed to me that someone suffered only minor injuries from the tigers, but it can happen. We must remember that inside the cage, by our side, the one we are petting is not a cat but a tiger.
At the entrance of Tiger Kingdom they will make you sign a document disclaiming them from any responsibility if anything happens so, follow the instructions of the staff.
Inside the cage I got to hug the tiger, 2 tigers were present and I found them quite tame. There was a moment when one of them got a little nervous but because we had been there for quite a while, so it’s understandable.
The staff is available to take your photos while you are busy playing with the tiger.
